Our client is one of the world’s leading suppliers of thin client, remote access and virtualized desktop computing.
On behalf of our client we are seeking to recruit for a Support Engineer that will work from his own space at home.

An interest in desktop virtualization, server virtualization, remote access, and related technologies
A strong interest in providing excellent customer service
A passion for learning new technologies

Specific Communication Skills
The ability to clearly communicate technical problems and solutions
A good grasp of formal and informal writing and an understanding of tone
Be comfortable speaking to people via phone
Be comfortable speaking to people of higher and lower authority in person
A willingness to engage in group discussion (in person, via phone, via email)
To present a friendly, confident and competent demeanor when dealing with customers (via phone, email, and in person)
To be able to write clear and understandable technical & non-technical documentation

Strong familiarity with Windows (desktop/server)
Familiarity with general networking principles and technologies (DHCP, DNS, NAT, TCP/IP)
Strong familiarity with Windows Active Directory (incl. GPO, etc.)
Experience with troubleshooting technical software problems
Experience with troubleshooting technical hardware problems
Awareness of desktop and server virtualization and understanding of their basic concepts
Awareness of Microsoft Remote Desktop / Terminal Services systems and an understanding of their basic concepts
Exposure to Linux/UNIX and a willingness to develop any existing skills
Beneficial Technical Experience
Familiarity with desktop virtualization as a concept
Familiarity with VDI (VMware, Oracle, other)
Familiarity with server virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, Veeam, other)
Familiarity with thin clients
Familiarity with Linux/UNIX
Familiarity with SAN/NAS technologies
Familiarity with Microsoft Remote Desktop Services
Familiarly with scripting languages, e.g. VBS, PowerShell, Bash, etc.
Desired Qualifications
Good grades in English / Maths / Science at GCSE (or equivalent)
Relevant GCSE (or equivalent (e.g. ICT))
